Why charter in Corsica?

Corsica is the most beautiful island in the western Mediterranean. The combination of granite mountains rising 2,700 metres from the sea, turquoise water, pine forests, and ancient Genoese towers makes it unlike anywhere else in the Mediterranean. Bonifacio, at the southern tip, is one of the most dramatic natural harbours in the world: a citadel perched on 70-metre white limestone cliffs above the Strait of Bonifacio.

The Strait of Bonifacio, between Corsica and Sardinia, is the most dramatic passage in the western Mediterranean. The white limestone cliffs of Bonifacio rise 70 metres above the water. The old town perched on top is one of the most photographed in France. The anchorages in the bays below the cliffs — Cala Longa, Rondinara — are among the most beautiful in the Mediterranean.

The west coast of Corsica is the most dramatic section of the island. The Calanques de Piana — pink granite formations rising from the sea near Porto — are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Gulf of Porto, the Scandola Nature Reserve (accessible only by sea), and the Girolata lagoon are all protected areas with extraordinary clear water.

The north of Corsica — Calvi, Saint-Florent, the Agriates Desert — is the most accessible section of the island and the most popular for charter. Calvi has a well-equipped marina and a citadel visible from the sea. Saint-Florent is the starting point for the Agriates Desert, a protected wilderness with beaches accessible only by boat.

Corsica is a French department, which means French VAT applies to charters embarking in Corsica. The island is less expensive than the French Riviera for provisioning and marina fees.

   Once you select a yacht, MY OCEAN prepares the MYBA standard charter agreement. The deposit is typically 50% of the charter fee. The APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance) covers fuel, food, and marina fees — typically 30–35% of the charter fee.

   Board and depart

   The crew handles provisioning, routing, and all logistics. You arrive at the embarkation port and step aboard.
