Why charter in Caribbean?

The Caribbean is where the world's superyacht fleet spends the winter. From November to April, the trade winds blow consistently from the east, the water is 28–30°C, and the islands — Saint Barths, the BVI, Antigua, Saint Martin, Grenada — offer a combination of sailing, beaches, and nightlife that is impossible to replicate in the Mediterranean.

The Caribbean charter season runs from November to April. The trade winds blow from the east at 15–20 knots — consistent, warm, and reliable. The standard charter circuit covers the Leeward Islands: Antigua, Saint Martin, Saint Barths, Saint Kitts, and Nevis. The BVI (British Virgin Islands) is a separate circuit, typically based in Tortola, covering Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke, and the outer islands.

Saint Barths is the most glamorous island in the Caribbean. The harbour at Gustavia fills with superyachts from December to March. New Year's Eve in Saint Barths — the fireworks over the harbour, the boats at anchor — is one of the great events in the yachting calendar. Berths in Gustavia for New Year's Eve are reserved 12 months in advance.

The BVI is the best sailing ground in the Caribbean. The Sir Francis Drake Channel — the passage between the main islands — is one of the most beautiful in the world. The Baths at Virgin Gorda, the Soggy Dollar Bar at Jost Van Dyke, and the Bitter End Yacht Club are all accessible only by sea.

Antigua is the hub of the Caribbean charter industry. Falmouth Harbour and English Harbour are the two main marinas. Antigua Sailing Week in late April is one of the most important regattas in the world. The island has the best provisioning and maintenance infrastructure in the Caribbean.

   Review the MYBA charter agreement

   Once you select a yacht, MY OCEAN prepares the MYBA standard charter agreement. The deposit is typically 50% of the charter fee. The APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance) covers fuel, food, and marina fees — typically 30–35% of the charter fee.

   Board and depart

   The crew handles provisioning, routing, and all logistics. You arrive at the embarkation port and step aboard.
