Greece is the most requested sailing destination in the world. The combination of 6,000 islands, consistent summer winds, and a coastline that moves between ancient ruins, whitewashed villages, and deep-water anchorages makes it unique. The Cyclades — Mykonos, Paros, Naxos, Santorini, Milos — are the most popular charter circuit in Greece. The standard week runs from Athens (Piraeus or Lavrion) south through the Cyclades, finishing in Santorini or returning north via a different island chain. The meltemi wind blows from the north in July and August — reliable for sailing but strong enough to make some anchorages uncomfortable. June and September are calmer.

Santorini is the most photographed destination in Greece. The caldera anchorage — inside the volcanic crater — is one of the most dramatic in the Mediterranean. Sunset from the water, looking up at Oia, is a genuinely remarkable experience. The anchorage is crowded in August; arrive early or anchor in the southern bay at Vlychada.

Mykonos is the social centre of the Cyclades. The town is accessible by tender from anchor. The beach clubs — Nammos, Scorpios, Principote — are all reachable by water taxi or tender. A charter yacht gives you the option to attend and return to the boat.

The Ionian islands — Corfu, Lefkada, Kefalonia, Ithaca, Zakynthos — are the alternative to the Cyclades. The sailing is gentler, the anchorages are less crowded, and the landscape is greener. Lefkada's Nidri is a popular base. The Ionian is particularly good for families and first-time charter clients.

   Review the MYBA charter agreement

   Once you select a yacht, MY OCEAN prepares the MYBA standard charter agreement. The deposit is typically 50% of the charter fee. The APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance) covers fuel, food, and marina fees — typically 30–35% of the charter fee.

   Board and depart

   The crew handles provisioning, routing, and all logistics. You arrive at the embarkation port and step aboard.
