Why charter in Sardinia?
Sardinia's Costa Smeralda is where the modern superyacht industry was born. The Aga Khan developed Porto Cervo in the 1960s as the first purpose-built superyacht resort. Today, Porto Cervo in July is the most concentrated collection of superyachts anywhere in the world. The water is turquoise, the anchorages are extraordinary, and the combination of granite cliffs, pine forests, and clear sea is unlike anywhere else in the Mediterranean.
The Costa Smeralda — the Emerald Coast — runs along the northeast corner of Sardinia from Palau to Olbia. Porto Cervo is the social centre: the marina is the most prestigious in the Mediterranean, the restaurants are excellent, and the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda hosts the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup and the Sardinia Cup every year.
The La Maddalena Archipelago, just north of Palau, is a national park: 62 islands and islets with some of the clearest water in the Mediterranean. The anchorages at Cala Coticcio on Caprera, Budelli's pink sand beach, and the passages between the islands are accessible only by sea.
South of the Costa Smeralda, the Gulf of Orosei on the east coast is the most dramatic section of Sardinia's coastline: vertical limestone cliffs dropping 400 metres into the sea, sea caves accessible only by boat, and beaches reachable only on foot or by tender. The Cala Luna and Cala Mariolu beaches are among the most beautiful in the Mediterranean.

- 04Board and departThe crew handles provisioning, routing, and all logistics. You arrive at the embarkation port and step aboard.
