Charter fees in the Mediterranean range from around 17,000 euros per week for a 25-metre motor yacht to over 500,000 euros per week for a 60-metre superyacht. The fee covers the yacht, the crew, and the use of all on-board facilities and water toys. It does not cover fuel, food, drinks, marina fees, or gratuity. These additional costs are covered by the APA.

What Is the APA and How Does It Affect Per-Person Cost?

The Advance Provisioning Allowance is typically 30 to 35 percent of the charter fee. It is paid before the charter begins and covers all running expenses during the trip: fuel, food and beverages, port fees, and any additional requests. At the end of the charter, the captain provides an itemised account. Any unused APA is refunded. For a charter fee of 100,000 euros, expect an APA of 30,000 to 35,000 euros. How to Get the Best Value

Charter in September instead of July or August. Rates drop 10 to 20 percent in the shoulder season while the weather remains excellent. Book early for the best yacht selection. Consider repositioning charters where yachts need to move between seasons and offer reduced rates. And always ask about last-minute availability, particularly for the coming two to four weeks where owners prefer a reduced rate over an empty yacht.
